Re-designing wheelchairs

Postby abbey315 » 13 Oct 2016, 00:54

Hello everyone. I’m a current product design undergraduate student and I’ve been tasked with redesigning the modular wheelchair. Recently I’ve rented a wheelchair and used it myself to get an understanding of how it feels to use one and the difficulties or pros and cons that I can find while using it. Although I found out reasonable information, I felt it’ll also be better to receive insight from actual wheelchair users who use the equipment on a daily basis. So if people can answer these few questions I’ll greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Question:
1: Age
2: sex: Male/female
3: What sort of wheelchair are you currently using right now?
4: How long have you been using the wheelchair for?
5: Have you ever needed a change in wheelchair?
6: How would you describe the manoeuvrability of your wheelchair?
7: Do you find your wheelchair to fit your body type/height?
8: Do you find your current wheelchair to be comfortable?
9: What do wheelchair users really want from their chair?
10: What are the different ways in which wheelchair users might wish to customise their wheelchair?
11: What does your current wheelchair say about you?
12: What would you like your chair to say about you?
13: Apart from being an equipment of aid, do you feel like a wheelchair can be an item of fashion/accessory/extension of the user’s character or personality?

I’ll really appreciate any sort of feedback or additional comments to the questions listed above. Thank you for taking the time out to read through this and hopefully answering the questions
