Hi folks! Over the moon to have found this site. My partner has just got a new NHS powerchair (quickie 200) which is decent but slow as hell, even compared to her previous model. That means it's now time to tear into her old one and trying to refurbish and upgrade it into something that's actually enjoyable to use. It's an ancient Invacare Fox, pretty different to the BM3's base, so I'd appreciate any and all suggestions about how to go about doing such a thing! First thing will be to get some decent wheels on it — the shaking and jolting was always her biggest complaint. Then I'll start looking at the electrical side of things, and hopefully not fry myself along the way
Personally, I'm a young manual chair user cursing my local hills. If you know anything at all about power assist attachments for manual chairs you'll know it's a complete sh!tshow out there... maybe after looking around here a bit more I'll find the confidence to build my own? It doesn't seem that difficult but the current commercial options vary from unreliable to downright dangerous, so maybe there's a hidden catch somewhere that I haven't yet discovered.
Suggestions and pointers always welcome!
