I have recently become a powered chair user, well I say recently the past 18 months or so.
I suffer fro Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, ME , Degenerative Back disease to name but a few of my medical conditions.
I find that I am barely able to walk more than 50yds with the aid of crutches or 20 mins which ever comes first lol.
Last year took delivery of my a powered chair ( choose a chair over a scooter because of the manoeuvrability in shops over a scooter). At the same time , I also got a Motability car Honda CRV, ( wasn't told I could get a hoist fitted at the time.) My poor wife had to load my chair using a pair of aluminium ramps, this took its toll on her physically, they are bloomin heavy old things. Anyway this lead to the chair more than often than not , being left at home and a manual chair being used.
Of course this has lead me to being stuck at home, whilst she is at work , and only getting out at the weekends when she is off, and then only going where she pushes, sad face for me
Some good news though , talked to Motability and they agreed an early change of vehicle. So now have a Berlingo with hoist fitted. Only had it a few days , but I already find it easier to get out and about.
I do have some enquiries, but will post them in the correct forum
Any way that's me , oh I was medically retired unfit to work at 48 and I have just turned 50. Still can't work
