First of all let me say I'm very impressed with the technical aspects of this forum. It's not just stock stuff it's really complicated projects and I love the style.
I'm 26, own a BBQ restaurant and do shooting competition. I have a spine injury and have a 2014 SVM Silverado.
I'm angry and feel it's not right what the off-road chairs cost and feel they are far below what they should be for the cost. I'm planning to build my own with you guys help.
It won't be easy or cheap but I'm going to do it

Theres a problem. Mobility controllers are almost adequate for something with skinny tyres and casters at low speeds. (Gearing)
They are incapable, at anything more substantial, and completely incapable with an adult sat on top if skid steer. And it also follows that the usual lead batteries are both massively too heavy and also incapable of keeping up with the huge increases in load that off road type vehicles and use brings.
So your project will not be cheap. Will be very complex.

Hi Keith,
I suggest you search out posts here by Williamclark77 to look at what he already built and what he is building now. I think that his chair is about as close as one can come to full off-road capability short of skid steer (which, as John has said, is full of problems of its own). As you plan your project, you may want to share your ideas here even before "cutting metal". Doing so has certainly saved me some grief - for example, I hadn't realized how much aluminum alloy strength is lost along a weld line. Someone here spotted that, and let me re-think a caster design before having a chair stuck with a caster wheel parallel to the ground!
