Golf Ball Mortar

Postby Gnomatic » 21 Jun 2021, 03:13

..... needs some cleanup. Black powder mortar has been stuffed in my garage for about a decade, and needs some cleanup. Obviously its not stainless steel. The company I got it from, according to the wayback machine, seems to have been using its 4140 alloy steel on its units at the time. The trunnions have brass rings on them.

What's the best way to clean this up, electrolysis?

Its looking a lot better but still not perfect. Good enough I suppose. Having most trouble with inside the barrel. I need to grab a small wire brush I think.
