IQ

Postby Burgerman » 19 Aug 2021, 11:25

Being born as a high IQ person is a curse, as the vast majority around you just doesent "get it" and its very hard to communicate your thoughts, wants, or to explain anything.

But being born as a low IQ person is a tragedy.

Life is easy for the average IQ person as most of the population (80%) are all on their own same level of understanding and communication.

“Low IQ” people refers to those (IQ 86 and less). It can also be defined as “IQ greater than one standard deviation lower than the average”. Usually IQ of 60 is considered as the lowest for independent survival and not needing custodianship.

"High IQ" refers to a person one full deviation above average. So normalised IQ (not test score!) of 114 and above. Those with lower or higher IQ than this suffer even greater problems in communication. Or even survival without a lot of external assistance.

And no, you cant test IQ with online tests. You need a proper supervised test such as those administered by mensa, or the millitary, or a qualified Psychologist under properly controlled conditions with recognised tests.

I struggle to communicate with many on here. Make of that what you will. Its not just on here its all through life. Yes I am pretty high IQ and make no apologies for that. And yes it makes life difficult as far as communication with almost anyone hard. People attention spans always seem far too short. They obviously dont grasp what you just attepted to ask, explain etc. And no amount of repetition or clarification helps that sink in. They all think they got it. And switch off. When they plainly didnt. It leaves me at my wits end taking to banks, doctors, the guy that MOT'd my van yesterday. Etc etc. Every day.

People also say I am very negative. But sadly thats also a consequence of a good brain. I see all the downsides and problems that most dont want to know or hear. A human brain has a NEGATIVE BIAS. It evolved that way because it keeps you alive. Walking alone in the jungle at night and you see a rock. Or a bush. You are not sure. It might be a tiger or a bear. So you decide its a bear and run away. Because if you decide its a rock or a bush you may no longer live to tell the tale. The brighter you are the more of this stuff you see. I see most normal people as seeing the entire world through a keyhole. They miss the big joined up picture no matter what the subject.

The higher your IQ the more you undestand about the world, the more you see all the negatives, the downsides and possible problems and how these fit into the big picture. So it always makes you more negative, pointing out the errors in thinking or errors in design. Most people dont care and are not as good at seeing this so dont want to know. They just shut off. They would rather not see details. So I come across as being negative all the time. Its also why details MATTER. And why logic and reason and critical thinking skills and evidence are far more accurate and important when figuring anything out than feelings and testimonials. Because that does not work. Thats tough if you are unable to think this way. But its the only way to the truth of anything.

Don't sell yourself short, John. Your advice and explanations are exemplary, just sometimes a little repetitive on topics about which you feel strongly, like socialism and capitalism.

The fact that some people ignore or fail to understand your advice is not your problem. You show much more patience, and devote more time than most would be capable of, trying to ensure they understand your responses. This is an admirable characteristic for which we should all thank you.

I get the opposite response though. People all generally dont want a complete answer they want a single line incomplete wrong answer! Expresso for e.g. never reads anything but the first line... And we go around and around for weeks untill finally I get to say I already said all that 5 pages earlier...

And it makes me :cussing

I am not targeting expresso. Its MOST people. On the phone, in the street, at the bank, whatever and wherever. Try oordering from a mcdonalds and making a very clear concise CHANGE like NO MAYO. All hell breaks loose, 3 wrong meals. Etc. They do not listen past the first few words because they think they already know. No attention span.

Another good example. The WCS seem to employ anyone regardless of abilities or understanding. They get it all wrong. All because they think they know and do not listen past the first sentence. And mostly wouldnt understand if they did.
I think many of these are the same people that can manage to fall over me and my completely stationary wheelchair in the middle of a huge empty well lit shopping centre.

Today, market in town. I told the girl in the butchers that I only eat stuff with a face. After I paid she asked what I meant. She hadnt figured it out in 5 mins. I replied that I was the opposite to a vegetarian. She still looked confused. So I left. Makes you wonder how she ever found her school never mind learned anything. IQ of around room temperature. But nice regardless. Nice but daft.

Your explanations are very clear. But to get a mental picture in one's brain in place of a string of words, one has to really concentrate... at least, I do. And you are so patient with slow and obtuse and rude people. And explain things in all different ways to help those of us who take a while. And btw thank you expresso for always asking millions of questions, I would never understand Burgerman the first time.

But ahem John you're not perfect, sometimes you don't understand other people, so you can relax about being all alone in your brilliance.
I told the girl in the butchers that I only eat stuff with a face. After I paid she asked what I meant. She hadnt figured it out in 5 mins.

Butcher shops, none of their stock has a face, not a single item. So if you're getting things to eat there, no wonder she didn't follow your reasoning. You haven't followed hers either for the whole day. She was totally sweet to ask and no dafter than you. And you followed it up with
I replied that I was the opposite to a vegetarian.
which is not an explanation, it's a crazy random thing to say.

If the intelligence of fishes were judged on their ability to ride bicycles and all that.

I only eat stuff with a face. I am buying food at a BUTCHERS. Everything there has a face. Or does she not think meat is animals? And so that IS the oppsite to a vegetarian as they dont eat anything with a face by definition... They eat all the stuff I dont! Weeds etc. I cant see how everyone doesent get that? banghead

Some jokes just don't work out of context. I know this because my one-liners all too often fall flat.

I am not going to get into an argument with you about how many faces there are among the butcher's stock.

All of it. They come in the back door as complete animals. And go out the front as packs of meat, pies, sausages, burgers, steaks etc. :fencing

They throw non of it away. So... They put the stuff that looks nice out on display. I buy that. They do not put trays of eyeballs, lips, bellends, nipples and bumholes out on trays. So then, are they in the sausages?, or the pies? :shifty:

delicious.
Of course these delicacies, and the nice cuts too, were parts of animals that had faces before they were butchered, we all know that when we think about it.
But your butcher shop assistant wasn't thinking about that, she was thinking about her customers and how to wrap this piece of meat and all the things like that which are her job. And not distracted by thoughts of her own issues, boyfriend/the party/her family problems etc. which are the usual users of spare processing power in brains, instead she was turning some of her attention to wonder about your reference. Whereas you are instantly familiar with your reference despite its obscurity, because you've been using that reference in writing for years.
She's just not dumb. Nobody would get that unless they have some leisure to plough through the obscurity to the meaning.
But that is back to where you started this thread, that nobody understands you and so you feel all alone. But everyone feels alone, it's part of the human condition, with everybody wrapped up in themselves and feeling that nobody understands them.
As my dad used to remark when I was young and clever, you're so sharp you'll cut yourself. It applies to you, too.

Actually, I expect butchers promptly sell off what is unfit for human consumption to animal feed manufacturers. I doubt that they sell much of it to retail customers or have the space to store it.

Which brings me to milk. I dont touch it. Why? Well you wouldnt go around your nebourhood and take a load of HUMAN milk from a bunch of unknown women and put that in your fridge would you. Yuk.

But you happily do that from a goat or a cow, (or your cat? Whats the difference). And think thats just fine. And they are not even your species. Worse, all the nutrients are meant for bringing up calfs. And I have seen all the pus and blood from a cows mastitis (common) all mixed in with the milk... But thats OK? At least they wipe the worst of the cow shit off the udders most of the time... :clap

This thread has taken a turn for the worse. Question, does a chicken have nipples? :problem:

Actually, eggs are the hens period

They do not have one, but they get broody every few weeks instead, which means they turn into witches with snarling and biting, retreat into their box to emerge grumpily for a few minutes to eat, and do not lay any eggs. So you're nearly right.

Nearest thing to a nipple on a hen is a pecker.

As for milk, many people refuse to drink cow pus and even cite that very reason. Supermarket milk is a very low standard and full of sh1t, too because the supermarkets don't give a toss about farm animal welfare, they have their own struggles to be competitive catering for consumers that don't want to pay anything for the food they eat.

Yes that is a good thing for this time and place. It's not like you can never have a bun some other day.

As for the rest of it I hope you don't give up on humanity. We are flawed. I do not see you as negative...maybe a bit overzealous when it comes to politics. You are certainly not the only one!

My boss told me I was negative once. I told her I was passionate. Many things are simply a matter of perspective.

The brain is a strange thing...it works differently for each individual. And it changes over time.

Once a person is taught HOW to think. How to understand and use only logic and reason. Only ever think critically. then most peoples brains work one hell of a lot better. If this was the ONLY thing that schools taught kids. And nothing else. Then the vast majority would manage everything, and learn everything else quite naturally. And there would be no woolly confused thinking. There would be no religous "beliefs" or any other woo woo in the world. Nonsense like homeopathy, would not exist. There would be no socialism other than as a low level support system. (Sorry!) and they would all be better equiped to deal with how everything in life really works. To properly understand the world.

Without the above methods of clear thinking anything can seem true or correct. Hence all the nonsense in the world. Like todays afghanistan bomb. Its impossible to understand how anything works and impossible to see the bigger picture when making decisions. (in fact you will also understand that you *dont* actually have any choice! But we wont go there now. Since we have no alternative to behaving as if free will is real even though its an illusion)

as if free will is real even though its an illusion

A sweeping claim when made without using agreed definitions of free and will. But has nonetheless achieved fame, if the distraught reporter's article in the Guardian (iirc) is anything to go by.

Its nothing to do with the lefties in the guardian. Its just basic well understood physics.

Since everything in the universe ever discovered is causal. Even quantum physics (you just use the shrodinger equation to get the result) There isnt any way for your brain to function that is not causal too. Without adding magic woo woo to physics. We know of no magic. And so free will just depends on you thinking you made a free choice. It wasnt ever really free even if it feels so. Its a very persistent illusion.

If you ran the same bit of time over again, 100 times, you will always make the exact same free choice to "turn left". For e.g. Its litearally just particles of matter obeying fixed laws. Theres no way for an alternative outcome. Even if theres was, that stll doesent give you free will! It just would mean some different maths and a different but still predetermined outcome. Your brain is not any different than rolling some billiard balls.

But because we dont actually know what every partical in the universe is doing (speed/velocity) at a given time, we cant actually second guess the result. And if we did, the maths is obviously too hard for us. If we could do that calculation, we could calculate the whole of human and the rest of this universes future in almost infinite detail till the end of time (which means the end of causality which means the end of entropy). Because once entropy gets to its final messed up state where it can go no further, theres nothing left. No cause or effect. Or time.

Since we cant do this. We must run our lives as if we do have free will even if with a little physics you understand why its really not possible. We are given no alternative.
