i use too LTSC 2019 and is very good for now... but is not to easy to keep your programs, the stuff and files, videos, photos, and etc its easy to move on another partition, but with all programs installed i don't know if you can... for now i don't think is a way to do that, because is a different version of LTSC, check google or youtube to see if is a way...

The whole purpose of a very careful and detailed thread above was to explain exactly this. Those little squiggly things are INFORMATION. Thats why I bothered to type them

For all those interested in updating their LTSC 2019 operating systems to the just released 2021 version, you might be interested in the following. My LTSC 2019 was very heavily personalised, 2 years of fine tuning, tweaking. Such as tracking down over 200 things that write log files continuously in windows. And much much more - Not enough time or memory to explain it all now!

When upgrading to the 2021 version its easy. If you choose keep my files and settings. It takes an age. But kept everything as it was. Programs, settings, and about 1000 mods and changes. I cant tell its been done other than a few operating system differences.

I dd notice that the windows folder is now 8GB smaller! And it added a 1GB rescue folder on my drive. Which I dont need. So its gone. And the windows partition made bigger instead. Then you need to remove windows.old folder by using cleanup. Or its locked. And then you are back to square 1 wih a perfectly configured but newer system.

Then run setup! And be prepared for a long wait. All automatic.

The only issue I have with it is that you cannot EASILY turn off its in built defender anti virus. For good. So it keeps on finding my dodgy hacks and crack files and wasting CPU cycles. So I disabled the defender service (not simple as its all locked down) and then disabled the notifications that keep telling me its not enabled... But now all good.

if that happens to me and i cant stop it etc, its a pain to keep installing the cracks etc,

in that case - a 3rd party anti virus can be used - will take over instead of defender

and you can configure it to allow the hacks as it finds them - solving that issue -

Yes but I told you how to fix it.
Boot in safe mode, disable the defender service, reboot in normal mode and wait a bit. Then disable notifications in security centre. Done.

i have spybot protection so defender isnt working - the best i can tell when i checked

And now with spybot you added some junk 3rd party stuff to your PC too.
Spybot. Seems more like junkware that keeps trying to make you buy paid stuff... The sort of thing you want OFF you computer. And under tests it found only 15% of the viruses... So it doesent even work!

those are what i been always using - free - the Cleaner i have the reg. to make it full version - going back many years - just a habit to install those

i used to have the free Avast - but got tired of its bull shit pop ups etc, got rid of long ago

i got it going and running a full scan

problem with these are when they find things - i am not 100% sure if i can remove it or allow it - some of them i can figure out if its needed by the location but others who knows

You have a great one, already - defender. I simply disable it unless I choose to do a system or custom scan. Why add more junk?

sorry i forget, you can update the LTSC and keep all programs and files, look this pic and you will know, is easy, make a bootable usb with power Iso program and boot .. and about defender i think is good Malwarebyte's...

i really dont have much junk

just a few programs i use or have used and just kept them

i may just do it over and wipe it clean - then install the min programs i use - and just let defender do the work

whats happened now - is lets say something got out of wack - either a program that didnt uninstall correctly - cant pinpoint the issue

but after doing an image - i went to restore back to the older 2019 version - and during restart - it wont work says something is missing - either drivers or some file is missing and cant restore it - i go to windows repair etc, - nothing - i finally reset it back to before i installed the program and that worked

but i still dont know why using either Macurim or AOEMI program to make my disk image - they both dont work at times like that -

under normal working windows - i can restore fine back and forth - etc, but if a issue arises - chances are they wont work -

what works better it feel now is just use windows back up - save file history - use windows to make image and leave it alone - use that to go back if needed -

when i use AOEMI i have it check the image to confirm its all good - if it happens again - i take a picture of the message - -

i had to use the usb boot drive to get it going again

The problem you have in a mystery

Been using the free macrium for at least 12 years and swap the very same windows image from laptops to desktops all without it ever failing. I do it 3 times every week to keep all computers cloned.

But you do need to know a few things. Like dont use bit defender, or any other nonsense that locks things. And you must ensure the bios is configured correctly or it will not restore and boot etc. But I dont know why on earth you keep doing this restore thing. I have never had to do that since win 95... You should have a highly optimised copy of windows on your PC that has been fine tuned and set up to perfection over the years you used it. And build on that. Not a basic installation that you keep mucking up with junky software that you have to keep redoing back to a previous time.

When I build my new PC early next year, I will just do a copy of this laptop, and deploy it directly to the PC. It will be up and running and fine tuned in minutes. With all my stuff, passwords, updates, etc from the first 15 mins.

i never had this issue before with the macurim or the other one i use

it recently happened - driver issue or something was missing that it needed

i redid it 2021 clean install - put back my programs i do use - i didnt install the others - spybot etc,

i left it alone - with defender

i used windows to make a backup on the other drive - i used windows for file backup and image backup

i made another image using AOMEI - and didnt use Macurim - no need to have both of them - AOMEI is easy simpler interface - Macurim is fine also - but dont need two that do the same thing -

i dont think Macurim was the problem - it gave the same error when trying it with AOMEI also -

if i want to restore now - it will work fine -

its for some reason it didnt load all the drivers it needed or it was missing from Win itself - or its an AMD thing i dont know -

it did work using the repair Win 10 boot disk and restored from Windows restore points -

if i open a folder with my programs - most all have cracks to them - it will find it and let me know - when i go look at it - to see what it is from what program if its OK to keep or not - it removed it already - now its lost from my folder

it didnt give me time to allow it - i wanted to see the details first - before i knew it - it was gone

thats what i dont want it to do

Try more or check google, ita easy to restore/recovery any “malware crack etc”

2 things. If all your cracks are in PASSWORDED zips, no way that any anti virus program can read or see them.
And if you DISABLE defender as I have, it does nothing unless you ASK IT TO.
And if you specify your software folder with all the cracks in it, it doesent scan that folder or drive at all...

A little knowledge goes a long way!
