3/8 Nyloc Nuts ?

i went to replace some nuts with Nyloc nuts -

the opening looks just right - 3/8 size - but it dosnt fit - how can i know which 3/8 nut i need - ? looking at both - seems the new ones i got are not as fine the trend - ring terminals 3/8 size fit fine - so i know its an 3/8 size stud -

i purchased these - they dont screw down - cant get it started -

here are the nuts - other than the outer size of the Old one that fits - the inner part seems correct - new one that dosnt fit seems coarser inside -

can anyone make out which nyloc size kind i need by these pictures ?

if not i have to reuse the old ones - no locking - and leave it alone -

i have one cell thats lacking a bit below the rest - i changed the cell and turns out the same - - the balance ring is a bit damaged - so i figure i change the wiring cables - make new ones - and replace the ring connector on the balance cables - the ones i see are damaged a bit - and was going to use new nyloc nuts instead

unless i find the correct ones - i will have to reuse the old ones - and just use lock washers or nothing at all - they are tight when screwed down - i think i may have used some blue loctite on the nuts when i first did it - they seem a bit dirty - or i dont remember for sure - its been almost 5 years using it this way

didnt bother me much its an add on - but since i had a spare cell - i figure i change it and fix it - but dosnt seem like its the cell - its still a bit lacking below the rest of the pack - not much

No idea. Everything in the rest of the world use metric. And 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, millimeter threads. And I can tell each just at a glance.

3/8 is about M10 would be the same

the issue is i believe is not the 3/8 size ID - its the trend inside - but how do i know the correct one -

even if the originals are a bit dirty - that shouldnt effect anything ? as long as the surface on the bottom is clean ?

No idea in the land of imperial threads. If its on a cell it will be metric anyway.

3/8 is M10 - thats the closet match - i would look for an M10 nyloc nut ? and hope it fits

0.375 x 25.4 = 9.525
3/8 inch = 9.525 mm

found these M10 - i may just try them and see - if not - return and use the old ones that are not locking or nyloc - but very strong once tighten down

There is no match. M8 is M8. and M10 is M10. And all your funny imperial inch fractional threads will not fit, or have different thread pitch and thread shape. If you try and find some oddball mixture that seems to fit you will damage the threads or jam solid. Dont use anything in inches or fractions on metric threads.

does it matter - connections - etc, for the cells as a pack

would that matter show up on the graphs - or as long as the base bottom of the nut is clean and good contact with the terminals etc,

the inner part of the nut that is screwed down - seems a bit dirty - i used the spray contact cleaner etc, - but its not perfect -

for the contact - the base bottom is fine - not new but fine - would it be Ok this way

i will order the M10 and try them - if not - use the originals - no idea how to find replacement online this way

other than taking them to home depot - its a distance away - not far but not worth it either to get dressed travel deal with the people etc all afternoon -

anti social - most people i run into are idiots - i dont have the patients - i found the less the better - more when it comes to going to stores to buy or look for a certain item which is not clear cut -

dealing with the sales people etc, i dont mind meeting people , depends - very few times they are helpful - most times they answer a question with a question and never answer it -

i guess since covid - it became worse - i been home much more than usual - summer have been shorter than i recall in the past -

got the M10 size and still dosnt fit - cant screw it down - can just start -

i give up - its going back and i will just reuse the same ones - and nothing else - or use a lock washer but its tight once screwed down without one

only way to know is if i take one nut to home depot -

they have studs will sizes on the wall - they would find the one that fits and then know

have no reason to go out so wont be doing it - too much of a hassle -- busy time of year - people doors elevators - i leave it alone - will continue and just redo the wiring and balance rings replaced if any look bad - one i know for sure i will and that was on this Cell 3 - thats lacking just a bit behind the rest

after this if nothing changes - i leave it and use as is - as i have the past 5 years anyway

next time i do go out - i will go and see with the nut - i am curious as to what size it needs etc,
