In the part of the US where I live (Colorado), I have never heard anyone refer to my wheelchair as an "electric wheelchair". It is always "power wheelchair" or "PWC".

Hi... most people here in Southamerica call them "electric chairs" (although for me it's something else) and I prefer to call it "motorized chair" (it seems less frightening), being a more friendly term.
It has happened to us several times that people were afraid to ask and try chairs because they thought they could get electrocuted banghead hanged

They are known as powerchairs mostly here. Electric chairs refer to those ones used un the USA to terminate murderers.
