Passed? Then HARDWARE if fine no new laptop needed.

Mouse probs and black screen are almost definitely driver problems.

Dell recommended power settings? :problem: Why? Windows does that natively and it must be set CORRECTLY in bios. Why have third party bloatware on top fighting with windows oiwer saving?? Uninstall all bloatware.

how can i know the correct drivers for the mouse - and the screen ? wouldnt that be video card ?

i rather not buy a new one -

with AMD coming out with new laptop chips soon

i rather wait till those come out and settle down etc but not i a rush to replace it - as long as it works -

i could have even waited for the desktop - for AMD 7000 but it never ends - and what i have now is fine for me - many years

with Video cards costing 3K good luck

Delete all drivers you can. And tick the little box to delete. EEspecially chipset/intel/etc. Reboot. Windows will install the drivers that are still stored on your system. Go to dell site download a mouse driver that is 2 or 3 generations old. Test these. Same with all the other drivers.

Personally, I use this:

Turn OFF auto driver updates in windows. Stop using dells automated junk. Use the snappy driver installer. It allows you to choose different driver versions and so can test things easily. And has newer drivers frequently. It doesent do software. All this is basic how to drive a compter stuff.

Just bought a 16 core 32 thread 5950X which beats practically everything on the market except the new intel cpu 12900k. Once overclocked on a special motherboard, it beats that too. And the best and only way to overclock that CPU is to do an all core overclock. Which is easy enough. But on the DARK motherboard it allows you to do the AMD single core automated overclock at the same time. And it uses a thing that only exists on the ASUS Crosshair Hero Dark board. Called OC switching. That allows you to choose a daft all core overcock only when Amps exceed a figure you choose. Meanwhile it runs the single core higher overclock so is equally good in games etc. Does 31 to 32k in your favourite Cinebench R23.

So allows you to beat out (multi core) and match (single core) the non clockable 12900K since it uses half the watts. Less heat issues. And better overclock. And so on a good 3 radiator custom water loop it can run sustained high overclocks in almost silence.

Hence my new water monoblock etc. Will buy a Graphics card as and when available. Also with an EK waterbock. 3080 Ti.

I had the choice to buy intels latest, and AMDs latest. And chose AMD in spite of the hype. Because its better once you understand things better and check out the numbers. Will I notice if I turn off TEN CORES? Absolutely not!

is that a program ? that has all drivers - one time i tried that i believe - was taking WAY too long to finish up - i didnt think it was working - if its the same one

i can try deleting the drives from device manager and see where that takes me -

i never checked dells site for drivers etc, - will check next time - see what i can find -

AMD 7000 Zen 4 going to be a killer set up then - they keep mowing over intel - this is what i like - dont stop AMD keep going

Wireless is as fast as your internet connection. Or shouldbe. The reason it takes a while is that it is uploaded by all those using it. Its a fileshare thing like a torrent program. Takes an hour on my laptop.

looks real. Install a different mouse driver. See if it fixes problem. Then install all the newest drivers. And see if that fixes all problems.

Well it depends on your setttings!
As long as you get it from the proper website its perfectly safe. The SDI Origin site.
Also note the VERSION number, on mine and steves, is the newest. Its version 1.21.xxx

safe! https://www.snappy-driver-installer.org/

If I select the Grass theme, the Windows title still says "Snappy Driver Installer Origin", which expresso's version doesn't. :? That's why I'm thinking it's a dodgy version BM.

Version 1.12.x.xxx is the latest... https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... rigin.html Any version that's higher is not kosher. :fencing

Heres some screenshots of my donkeys years old windows instalation. It shows all files and folders, hidden or otherwise.

Take a careful look. See that C drive? THAT is every file or folder that should be o it.

See that desktop? Thats as cluttered as I let it get. In spite of milions of things and 27 years of work on this computer/ this PC.

See that start menu? It has all the junk removed and only displays the things I want on there and its organised.

I would love to see yours! Esp expresso... I am OCD organised. Others may not be!

I have and update every month for years... But I have 25GB total. Because I ran the .bat file to delete the copies, older etc. If you dont then after a few updates you end up with a full hard drive! (Actually I do it manually instead).

You can delete the drivers yourself, and or copy them from updates yourself, and delete the updates folder too as its now empty. You must learn how to use a computer :argument

I have 26GB with the latest updates...

SDIO1.jpg

There should be 53 driver packs in the drivers folder, delete the update folder as sometimes the update packs never get deleted after the program re-indexes the drivers.

i have 39 gig and 83 driver packs in the driver folder

i installed it - it was 25 or 26 gig - it had an update of 13 gig - so i updated it added 13 more gig

its fine drive space is cheap these days - but on my laptop - i have 225gig SSD for the OS - thats it

and have only 27 gig free - the program is on my usb drive - not on the OS drive -

i did a disk clean up - didnt free much 3 gig at most

i dont see how i got so much - i have to look it over - or start fresh factory restore - i only have a dozen programs maybe -

i cant see it taking up 200Gig of hard drive - between the OS and programs -

OS should be what about 25 gig at most when installed fresh ?

You need to run the batch file to delete the old packs. Run del_old_driverpacks.bat and that will reclaim 13GB. You gotta follow what me and BM tell you to do expresso.

Also a clean untouched install of Win10 LTSC should be around 13GB before drivers, page file, updates etc...
