Galvanised Steel Vent Pipes 50mm 2 inch approx diameter?

Postby Scooterman » 04 Jun 2022, 11:21

Any idea what they are? I've seen similar around before but I don't know what they are?

They're located behind a 6ft panel fence at the rear quarter of a bungalow back garden I'm going to view. The bungalow is alongside a main road which isn't ideal cos of road noise and possible traffic fumes. But I can't figure out what the pipes and large grey box is? I wonder if it's some form of cabinet, but what for? Whatever it is it's accessed via the gate in the back garden fence. I would have expected to see some form of metal or plastic name plate on the gate saying who it belongs to and a contact number?

I've messaged the real estate agent but have not had a reply yet?

No idea. An investigation is in order. The only place I saw similar was in a fuel station.

Could be an underground room or car park.

I think they are ventilation pipes.

Septic tank vents?

My arm isn’t long enough. Their door is a 4.5 hr journey away
I’m going there tomorrow all things being equal.

I wondered that but I I’m pretty sure the properties are on mains sewage

I agree, it’s got to be something like that.

A big gas pressure regulator. The vents are likely connected to the external side of a couple of regulators. The correct word for governer.

Like these. High pressure comes in. And the round thing corrects and maintains a lower pressure that feeds the houses that remains the same regardless of flow. Like a big version of the ones on a propane or butane bottle.

Nice one BM

I hope it doesn’t sound like a factory whistle going off at 5am! :cussing

NB: It looks like it’s enclosed in a steel cabinet

….as the grave

But not the main road that runs just the other side of the fence.

Just been and viewed the gaff today. Nice bungalow but I know the incessant road noise would piss me off.
