I cant be the only one with chair problems....can i?

I have a E-Tac E800, built 2010, it was one of the first of its kind into this country...and i think i have paid the price..lots of problems, mainly the soft wear, but had to have a new motor recently.It has been back to E tac far too many times. You think paying as much as i did for it they would get it right...but it seems not !

I had just about reached my limit of patients with it all the last time it went for repair(re programming and other faults inc removal of front caster wheels) which were not needed as they were orig for the 'standing' function, which i dont have on the chair!

I could list 20 other problems, but i wanted to know if there are any other users of E Tac E800's that are or having problems. Please can you contact me !

Dont know anything about the chair, does it have any tech details availabvle or an english website. Its a Balder isnt it?

Its a VW Caravelle 2010 Conversion done by GM coachworks , lowered floor, side ramp with drive from chair, E-tac are the suppliers now of Balder. The chair has been a night mare , with heaps of problems..Just read a lot of your pages about chairs and you are dead right about the quality!!

One of these? I found the steering wheel to be too far to the right, and the step in the floor under the wheel too high.

Mine is the face lifted 2.0Ltr TD 2010 Caravelle, Side ramp with pneumatic suspension that lowers the whole van for easy access, it is not a bad driving position from the e tac chair.

I used to be into bikes. Worked for PB testing them, spend years drag racing turbo street bikes and building nitrous systems and dynamometers... www.nitrous.info

300 HP plus nitrous was normal for me. But I crashed a stock brand new 100 bhp 1200 bandit. Helicopter, year in hospital, almost every bone broke, including spine/neck, all ribs in many places, 6 weeks in a coma, paralasis from T4, and a few other issues... Fun bikes!

year in hospital, air ambulance, died 3 times on operating table, C5/6 t7 L1 fecked up right elbow, pins in arms, spleen lost some where, but at least im incompleat so have ok hand/arm movement, 6 weeks in a coma and 9 months in a spinal unit...and i was only doing 60mph on the bike, trouble so was the old blind git coming the other way in the car......ouch (youve seen the pic i take it?)
Life goes on and thank feck for the VW and (now working) wheelchair !!

As long as you accept it, and get on with it its ok. I dont get mad or frustrated. Still get pretty girls, full time GFs, and have some good toys. You need a brain, some enthusiasm, and a never say die attitude. And take no prisoners. Dont suffer fools and especially official ones.

My first vehicle was a Plymouth Chrysler Voyager which also had lowered floor and air suspension. In the end, things started going wrong, I would have to replace the airbags every couple of years because they would puncture. The bottom of the car would scrape the top of my drive which then encouraged corrosion to set in. The motor that raised and lowered the ramp started playing up and would give me intermittent problems. The compressor that operated the air suspension act upon me a couple of times, I would also malfunction on occasions and wouldn't raise the suspension once I was ready to go. I would never ever have one of these raise and lower suspension vehicles again, you are just asking for trouble. At the end of 2006 I purchased a Mercedes sprinter van. I looked at just about every vehicle that was available on the market and the Mercedes came out on top. It's basically still a van, the only alterations that have been done are the lift that has been installed at the rear, and of course my driving controls. Fantastic vehicle which I would recommend to anyone, especially if you drive from your wheelchair and need that extra headspace
