My only criticism of all then X5 / V6 / V4 chairs is that they are very long, and very wide across front casters. And with the fat tyres are a bit too wide across the tyres for indoor/van use. And you sit high up too.

You own a X5 which is the same as the V6 basically. So you know that its like driving a bus indoors, as its both higher, wider, and longer than your BM2 copy chair? Well I presume you do!

But the V4 is a chair I may look at seriously is I didn't have the ability to build things like my latest lithium powered chair. Its is a contender in any purchase.

Having not seen one in the flesh its hard to know. But I saw and tried X5 (same as V6) and I think it may be wider still... Its hard to find out.

Can't get them in a Braun Entrevan - too tall, too wide and too long.
Should be renamed Braun Can't Entrevan.

Too tall - I'm 6'2". Even if someone shorter could get in there would be a problem. My Entrevan is side-door entry and I ride as a mid-seat passenger, so there are the 2 standard seats up front and three stand seats behind me. I enter forwards then turn and face forward in the mid-position -then turn again and exit forwards.
Do-able in a Storm3 or BM with centre footplate [or an F55 with 2 footrests after much to-and-fro] but not a six wheeler.

You need to remove the driver seat, and park just there!

Well my issue in a van was that its too wide to be central to the steering wheel. I must be shorter than you!

And a bit clumsy to shuffle about due to width and length. But doable. just about. No spare room on the ramp either. Dead easy though in my BM2 type chair. Its truly amazing how much difference a couple of inches in length and width makes(!)

I can get my X5 in my Dodge Entervan no problem and I'm 6'2. I changed the seat and footplate to a F55 seat frame but before I did my X5 just had a flat board and high profile roho cushion and getting in the van was no problem. Main problem with X5 is it is 2 inches too wide to drive the van from the wheelchair ( an inch off either side would be ideal). I can even sit at a standard dining table in mine and get my knees under.

Your Jay cushion has a a deep recess which probably helps.

There is very little room upfront because there is also a big box between the 2 front seats as part of the dis-connected tiller steering conversion which is still in place but not usable for me. I could have it removed permanently but it would be a shame as it's very costly to install [70k in all - I bought the van second hand] and permanently removing the swing-away tiller would hit the resale value, so I'm sort-a conflicted on the should-I-shouldn't-I issue.

You are absolutely right about the space though. Those K-shield turf tyres on the BM3 are a bit wider than the jiggly off-road tyres. Do they cause you much grief exiting the van or is it just a matter of lining up accurately?

The stock f55 is about 25.2 wide. With the turf tyres its about 26 wide. No real difference really.

The X5 measured an actual 28.5 in my driveway, and that's is getting a bit tight but still just fits.

Hey guys,

Carl here from Magic Mobility.

The Frontier V4 was developed as a heavily modified version of the Frontier V6. We have made modified versions of the Frontier V6 as rear wheel drive power chairs before, but we thought we would take it further and make it more unique. Hence the Frontier V4. The difference between the Frontier V6 rear wheel drive of old and the Frontier V4 lies in its size and stability. The V4 is a lot more compact and has much better drive wheel traction due to its purpose-built design and size.

Anyway, feel free to ask any questions about the Frontier V4 if you like. It's a very new chair so not many people have first-hand experience with it.
