Looking for any reviews, experience, suggestions, etc... I'm currently in an Omegatrac which is basically a tank. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore so now trying to figure out where to go next. I've been looking into the F5 but my DME supplier is pushing the Quickie Q700M. I know nothing is going to compare to the Omegatrac but want to find something that will be durable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All modern chairs are made from a pool of common suppliers of motors, controllers, wiring looms, bearings, tyres, actuators, etc. So reliability is pretty much the same across brands.

So the real question is how easy is it to fix, program, and obtain parts easily and if you want to be tied to a specific manufacturer such as permobil who use many of their own custom "common" parts that locks you into their ecosystem. Who are particularly problematic unless you rely on them to fix every tiny thing.

Sunrise are pretty much the same reliability but easy to program or fix or get parts or DIY. With the exception of problematic suspension units on that particular chair you are looking at... Bad luck! According to a good tech on here. And trust me there are not many of those. All my chairs are sunrise, rear drive chairs and lightly modified to make them work a hell of a lot better. One being the same Q700 but the R rear drive version which may soon be available in the US. Thats my opinion, many may disagree. Take a look at the V6 chairs now also sunrise medical.

I don't like the options.


I would look for a model with the following characteristics.

1- Manufactured by Sunrise Medical.
2- 4 wheels.
3- Rear wheel drive
4- Vertical motors.

Vertical motors? Why?

Most chairs up until the early 2000's had vertical motors. Guess Martin have never tried a newer powerchair. Even my old E&J chair has the motors vertically since the battery box takes up most of the space under the seat.

With decent 4 pole motors you can already change them normally. But you wont have to. On 2 pole you may need to if driven aggressively as they can burn up.
