It looks good as a portable solution. But its using Lithium Polymer batteries! LiPo's...

I would imagine that they don't have a clue about batteries or motors and have just bought both with a speed controller from china. I suspect they are not LiPo as he claims but LiFe cells.

The batteries look like ones selling assembled for electric bicycles from China.

Well those are like the travelscoot or laptop or camera batteries. These are lithium ion cobalt cells. With a 4.2v charge. They are more energy dense, easier and less critical to charge. Last about 300 to 500 cycles at best, and can burn or explode. But not as easily as LiPo do.
