You can enable Windows Photo Viewer with this, plus tweak many other settings to your liking.

Yep those things are annoying! I disable quite a lot of stuff that isn't wanted on a desktop OS. Why Microsoft thought mixing a mobile (cell) OS into a desktop OS was a good idea is beyond me! If MS made a Windows 7 version of 10 then a lot more people would like it! I have made a custom install.wim without Modern Apps, Defender, etc... so they don't have a chance to install.

I just took them out. Every big update puts them back. They want them there. Thats Microsoft's latest moneymaker. They want to target ads, store, other crap. All gone from mine. The only "ap" I have is the calc. And I might remove it too as the old one is better.

I've never had an update that put the CrapApps back in... Are you removing them after installation? The way I do it is I remove them from the Install.wim file in the ISO, that way they can't be put back because they don't exist to begin with. I use this... viewtopic.php?p=99891#p99891

Yes, from memory it wasnt an update that did that although those often leave garbage running like "restore" or change default settings.

I had a windows registry error, and a windows sxs folder error. So ran the filecheck command. It did it...

These are normal ISO's expresso :) So you get the complete install like you normally do. You can slim them down by using various tools.

oh ok - i got excited for a moment - so this is not already slimmed down -- thats what i though -

ok better than nothing - thanks :)

tell me - i have this USB C slot - what can i do with this now - ? i feel limited with the USB ports i have - i have a hub - but would like to keep nothing sticking out of the ports - i move the laptop around -

i am looking at getting a 128 or 256 gig SD card to use as a second storage - since i never really use the SD slot - might as well use it this way -

just that its slow to transfer stuff - but for small stuff its fine -

are they any usb flash drives small mini versions that i can leave connected to the USB C port for extra storage ?

one usb i need for the PL 8 - and the other can be for programming the chair or a usb flash drive - then thats it - i only have two usb port and one usb C port

U just need a cheap adapter to use the C port as a regular USB port.

https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-USB-C-Adap ... X2M3864MDS

USB-C is the future of USB. Much faster data transfer rates, more power, and you never need to fiddle with getting it oriented correctly to plug in. There is no right side up. Up, down does not matter with C ports.

3 USB 3.0 Type A ports plus a few card reader slots. Also have you looked at USB Thumb drives expresso? Something like this... https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-JumpDrive- ... humb+drive

yes i have so many thumb drives here - in all sizes - most are now useful because of size - cant hold anything - i keep them around for minor things - but 8 gig - 16 and even 32 gig are useless -

at min. i would get 128gig now and or 256 gig - in trying to keep it slim profile for the laptop - but the larger ones do work faster and stay cooler - so its a comprise i guess -

i like that usb c hub - i may get that in the future -

looking at these also - interesting

i ordered the Hub - i think that would be good - i can make sure of the C port at least and will get one of those 256 mb thumb drive - the fast one -

i returned the SSD i had - no use for it now - i kept the cable for the Sata to usb - and can use it on the HD from old laptop - its slow but can do a back up on it maybe - some storage 500 gig - why throw it out - i figure i put it to some use along with the DVD rom - once i get that cable - will test if it works -

Just found this... https://sourceforge.net/projects/windows-10-lite/

You run the cmd file during the setup process, and it will strip out the Modern Apps plus you get the chance to create the Administrator account from the beginning without having to create a normal one and then having to unhide it. I haven't tried this yet, so I don't know if it works or not, but can't see why it shouldn't work!

i purchased the USB C hub - one of my thumb drives dosnt work well on it - its a Pariot 3.0 usb 128 gig when i use it - it really has a hard time to read it - locks it up etc,

same drive works fine on the laptop usb port - i got the Hub to use the C port - and give me extra usb port - not sure how good it is though -

i was thinking of getting the new thumb drive 256 gig at blazing 400MB transfer - to use with this hub - hoping it will work or else its useless the hub - for fast speeds

Those USBC hubs require excellent well developed firmware, on both laptop and on the hub as well as the laptop bios. And drivers. Or there will be issues...

Got the dell business 7370 infinity edge glass screen etc with USBC and dell hub, works flawlessly and super fast on my sandisk 128 drive at 130mb per sec continuous. And on my 1gb mechanical SATA/USB external at full speed.

Image

Keep one also in both PC and laptop, on USB3 as they are tiny, bootable from that fancy boot disk by the russian guy, with a complete backup file of drive C made with macrium reflect backup software. So both are bootable too. And fat 32, single partition, 128gb.

i have the scan disk also - and that works fine - it goes get HOT - thats for sure - but it works - it may be picky with the brand -

i am looking to get this one - now i am worried because of the brand - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00SNLH5RE/ ... 986C&psc=1

i cant believe its going to really hit those speeds - - thats faster than most SSD drives - i figure i can leave it on my USB C hub and have an external drive for system imagines etc, - or what ever -

but being Patriot - thats the brand that is not working right on the usb C hub - it works fine on the USB 3.0 port on laptop -

i dont mind scan disk but i figure why not get the fastest

http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/4-port-b ... ccessories

is this the one you have BM ? i never though of checking the Dell site for the hub - i forgot i even got a Dell :) maybe this would work better with the Dell laptop - i would like to have those on and off switches for each port - so i can just turn on the ones i want to use - but hard to find those that actually work well --

the ones that work all the time - are the 2.0 models - never had issues with them - once going to 3.0 and now USB C - gets more flaky

Dunno...

Thunderbolt 3
USB Type-C plug
USB Type-C on a MacBook

Thunderbolt 3 was developed by Intel[46] and uses USB Type-C connectors.[47][48][49] Compared to Thunderbolt 2, Intel's Thunderbolt 3 controller (codenamed Alpine Ridge) doubles the bandwidth to 40 Gbit/s (5 GB/s), halves power consumption, and simultaneously drives two external 4K displays at 60 Hz (or a single external 4K display at 120 Hz, or a 5K display at 60 Hz when using Apple's implementation for the late 2016 MacBook Pros) instead of just the single display previous controllers can drive. The new controller supports PCIe 3.0 and other protocols, including HDMI 2.0, and DisplayPort 1.2 (allowing for 4K resolutions at 60 Hz).[50] By virtue of being an Alternate Mode of USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 ports implement USB Power Delivery, allowing the ports to source or sink up to 100 watts of power, which allows companies to eliminate the separate power cable from some devices. Thunderbolt 3 allows backwards compatibility with the first two versions by the use of adapters or transitional cables.[51][52][53]

Intel offers three versions of the controller:[54]

one "DP" (Double Port) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×4 link to provide two Thunderbolt 3 ports (DSL6540)
one "SP" (Single Port) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×4 link to provide one Thunderbolt 3 port (DSL6340)
an "LP" (Low Power) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×2 link to provide one Thunderbolt 3 port (JHL6240).

This follows previous practice, where higher-end devices such as the second-generation Mac Pro, iMac, Retina MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini use two-port controllers; while lower-end, lower-power devices such as the MacBook Air use the one-port version.

Support was added to Intel's Skylake architecture chipsets, shipping during late 2015 into early 2016.[51][52][53]

Devices with Thunderbolt 3 ports began shipping at the beginning of December 2015, including notebooks running Microsoft Windows (from Acer, Asus, Clevo, HP, Dell, Dell Alienware, Lenovo, MSI, and Sony), as well as motherboards (from Gigabyte Technology), and a 0.5 m Thunderbolt 3 passive USB-C cable (from Lintes Technology).[55]

In October 2016, Apple announced the updated MacBook Pro which features between 2 - 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports, depending on the model.[56]
