R-Net steering

Postby Burgerman » 13 Jun 2022, 03:17

The file below is from my finely tuned rear drive, no gyro, 4 pole motor, 6mph Salsa powerchair.
It has seating and lighting and is 6.5mph.

The complete file is everything.

The 2nd one is just the speed settings. And relavent other stuff. That can probably be used on all powercairs that do not use a gyro. And are not permobil. God knows what that would do.

It will ONLY change the relevant settings, give you a EMPTY CHAIR that is for use by people driving the chair externally, while empty. And a profile2 ALL SPEEDS profile which is perfectly balanced at every speed.

So in profile 1 its super slow, balanced turn, and forward and reverse speeds while being very proportional and direct. This cannot accidentally be speeded up.

Profile 2 works the same as profile 1 but does ALL SPEEDS.
Speed 1 is perfectly balanced turn rates, reverse etc. But super slow.
Speed 2 is perfect in the house and again a fully balances linear setup. Just slow.
Speeds 3, 4 and 5 give you the same thing, but just faster and balanced turn rates, reverse and forward speeds and accelerations.

SAVE your existing chairs profile, so it can be used at some later time in case you dont like this new one. And install the file below that ONLY has the speed settings, then thats all you will ever need. These settings are very precise, and work at all speeds in a balanced way. Should work on 4, 6 or 8mph chairs. Anything using r-net. It also enables OBP as well as removes all the "walls" and one or two other things.

Give it a try and the chair will actually steer properly for the frst time in its life. Test on low speed settings first. And then increase one speed at a time. You will no longer require any other profiles.

This will make every non gyro, non permobil normal powerchair steer correctly at all speeds. Test. At your own risk.

No NOT permobil.
And no not if any gyro or stability system is used. Those chairs cant ever be made to steer properly anyway. Will work on every other R-Net powerchair.

The 2nd one is just the speed settings. And relavent other stuff. That can probably be used on all powerchairs that do not use a gyro. And are not permobil. God knows what that would do.

If you have a NON PERMOBIL chair, with a gyro by R-Net, then these settings can be used after you choose NO GYRO in the settings for both of the profiles. But if its front drive it will then still fishtale and be hard to drive. So no front drive chairs either.

I just want to increase the speed you know, I'm not going to change the gyro, I intend to increase it to 6.5 miles ok. Would it be possible to configure using only the PC connected to the R-NET central?

you cannot make an F3 "go faster" with programming. i own an F3 and live in the USA and have access to the factory rep and her tools, she'd just laugh at me if i made such a request. buy an F5 if you want to go faster as it has the high speed motors

I have no idea how ast permobil motors are. But if its all set as stock, at 100% then theres no more to be had. Unless someone has REDUCED this.

That's right Burgerman, the F3's standard speed is 6.5 miles, the former owner was elderly, so they limited it in the program. Thanks for your time friend.

Is this because you don't have front anti tippers? This is just a setting you can change. I think it's the same as for any R-net chair. FYI This might not be a safe thing to do...

Thanks to all brothers in struggle for the tips shared with me, my chair was limited in the program, because the former owner was elderly. Life goes on.

Today I sent 3 people around the streets, and around the house in the Salsa, and the Q700R which have both got the exact same settings. And same basic layout. But this should be fine for mid or rear drive chairs.

We fine tuned a couple of things further.
I reduced the turn speed at the fast end, very slightly. It was a little much for some not at speed, but when manoevering at indoor speeds. By just 4.
I Increased the reverse speed when set to slowest speed, as that was too slow. By 3.
And thats it.

One test subject was a carer. Another a freind. And another was a chair user, not me! But all thought it was about as good as possible. NOTE. All had normal hands, and the joystick is mounted in the correct position, and proper technique used. With side of joystick pod as reference for palm of hand. Thumb and forefinger on joystick. And thats because I explained why nothing else works properly. And showed them how and why...

So now these settings would seem a tiny bit better still, a fraction smoother. No delays or accelerations in the turns. A perfect linear proportional starting point for any normal R-NET chair that is mid or rear drive, without a gyro. And not permobil!

THIS is ONLY the setting that control how the chair drives.
Everything else on your chair will remain exactly as before.
USE the 2nd profile. Called ALL SPEEDS. And set it to whatever speed you want. It works from 1mph to whatever your chairs max is. Equally well indoors or outdoors. The 1st profile is called EMPTY CHAIR designed only for moving an empty chair by carers or people that would otherwise likely crash it... Super slow.

Open with any version of r-net pc programmer. It only changes the things shown. Dont be tempted to adjust ANYTHING!
And upload to chair. But save your existing one somewhere first in case. As always.

What chair?

It has a gyro. It will still work, if you disable the gyro in the two profiles. As I did on mine. Or it will be undrivable.

Set under:

STABILITY/GYRO//PROFILED/GYRO SELECT PROFILE and set both to NO.

Confused?
Open programmer, go to open, and point it to file...

Is the steer file on your desktop?
In the box where you see the other files theres a place where you can tell it to see SUBSET FILES. On the bottom right that you are missing.

Also if you right click that .rnss file or the .r-net file and tell windows to always open those with the r-net programmer then it will always open them by double clicking. An will add the rnet logo. Because it then associates these two file extensions with r-net.
