Dietz chair cheap!

Postby Burgerman » 18 Oct 2024, 20:53

These add up to around 12.8K

This one is under 2k, 6.2mph, and will take offers. I would offer 1450 and see what happens from there. Its cheap anyway, looks almost unused.
18.5 miles range. With a set of 245Ah lithium you will get 6x this. With change! For an extra 640 uk pounds delivered. Thats 112 miles and some remaining.

Remember that this is a front drive chair... Yuk.
But swapping seat end to end and making it rear drive is super simple on these. Literally 2 seconds programming it to be the opposite way around. And 4 tilt/lift module mouting bolts. Total 30 mins. But thats likely why its cheap! Joy stick pod is cracked. Thise are £80 new. IF YOU BUY SOON! I bought one literally 5 mins back! And posted links. See other thread. https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... =2&t=12551

I would fit centre mount footrest too. But thats me.
And a set of these: https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... 60#p205362

The rwd and fwd are not identical. Castor fork housings are different width apart.

I could with sunrise. Dont quite know how to do that with Dietz. All their parts, pricing etc are in hiding! They dont show it to the public. But that would of course increase cost some. Not much probably. And there will be an un-needed gyro to ebay, those go for 100, so that would help cover 2 front arms. So still a good deal.

And here is a power centre Dietz footplate. For £43 plug and play!

Then you can sell the swingaway ones.

? £££ :problem:

You will need one of those £80 new joysticks, set of shirleys adapers and rims, (under 100) and the workshop manual. PDF. And that centre footplate I linked at silly cheap price. And reprogram, flog the gyro to cover the cost of joystick etc. Is that the plan? And a set of those 245Ah cells from Amy! £440? DELIVERED.

I brought the Dietz chair and centre footplate, I'll order up the front arms and convert it to rwd. I have a spare joystick shell I can use. BM do you know the overall width with the fat Duro tyres on?

Thx

120mm replaces the stock 3.00 inch so (76.5mm). But I think shirley made the spacer to minimise the gap. So meybe 10 or so mm less each side than you expect.

So you will need to measure the width when you get it and do the maths! 87mm wider than stock, (less maybe 10mm per side?) So a fraction over 3 inches wider track. Since my arms are already wider than the rear wheels are then it wont make a lot of difference on mine? Probably not a great deal of difference on yours either. But I have wide padded arm tops so that makes the overall chair wider. Well worth the extra though!

How much front arms?

I phoned Dietz and the arms £115 for the pair, plus a few quid for delivery.

I paid £40 for the electric footrest and £1500 for the Sango.

Its plug and play. Seat swap direction, literal 4 bolts.
FRONT Arms swap? Looks dead simple on that parts manual too.
Front centre mount foortrest 2 bolts. And a little wiring. If that loompart isnt on the chair or the footrest then its vailable from dietz.
Lights, you need to swap around too. Also easy. Or the white will shine to the rear and the red to the front!

So I recon around 2 hours tops. Its the fiddly things like rerouting cables or working out thet they loctited bolts (need few secs with a gas torch to release) etc that takes time!

But I KNOW that it will take a further 2 to 4 hours trial and error to position everything correctly on ALL chairs regardless --- CG and seat base tilt (dump) angle. footrest config for length, angle, footplate angle etc. Arm positions back/forth, height, joystick and headrest position etc. Then you will use it a day and decide to redo half of it several times to get it perfect! banghead Then programming. It MAY not have a 120A power module. It may also not desperately need it with a light user... And it will want some batts as it has some 55Ah ones in it... And so spending an extra £460 uk pounds on a set of 230Ah/(245Ah measured certified), lithium (hello Amy!) makes a whole lot of sense! 6x the range!

Aso dont like its wide winged headrest. But a small one like mine on the dietz is cheap enough.

Then shirley for rims and adapters...

Yes, I understand that it is not complicated. I have done something similar when I still could, now it entertains me to see it done.

I thought you or another reader might be interested in doing something similar.
There are front drive chairs in the US for e.g and a lack of rear drives. Most are the same chair just assembled differently pretty much. Incorrectly if you ask me! :ak47

You never know who may be researching doing something similar!

It is appreciated that I myself have been tempted but it does not adapt to where I use it. A shame since it is a very good offer.

Its not the first I saw. The mid and rear drive ones seem about double the price. Front drives seem to go for far less.

Once you sell the seperate swingaway legrest, gyro, then you will have about another 150 to 200 back in the budget.

So thats 50 footrest, 1500 chair, 115 for front arms, less 150 for ebay sold bits you dont need. So 1665 less 150 = £1515 total. Call it £1550 ish with front arm delivery cost etc.

Looks unused. So a bargain rear drive 6mph chair. This is how to buy a powerchair.
