Once you try a GOOD powerchair you will probably just throw that away... It doesent do anything better. Its wider, longer, less capable, less comfortable, less stable, less reliable, less controllable and less range/speed too...

If I remember well, it used an electromagnet to hold the pin inboard to have as much ground clearance as the chair allowed.
Cutting the power to the magnet let the pin drop down to catch the docking station.
Dunno how much a permanent engaged magnet would drain the battery though...
