Looks like it should work. It uses same LevelX library. New drivers support all Windows

Only. It can be connected to RS232 and USB and it has two drivers for RS232 and USB. When connected to RS232 it will be serial port and i don't see problem

So what do I need a Windows Xp to use this. Need to know before I purchase a used XP laptop. All I have is Mac+ Windows 7.

The "need" for an old XP based machine is based purely on reports of others having problems wth Windows 7 & the 1314 prog.... plus a puter with a built in RS232 should help in eliminating yet another possible problem with a installing and configuring yet another driver lead interface .

I'm only suggesting that ,in the interest of avoiding problems and conflicts, an older cheap XP based machine might be the way to go.

For what its worth i never found anything that didnt work on windows 7. Even if you have to use compatibility mode for xp service pack 3.

And even if you do, you dont need a new machine, just dual boot xp as well on your existing one.

We are looking for cheap alternative to original device. And purchase of old laptop it's extra money.

The last computer I have with a RS232 (and parallel) port is Windows 97SE. I keep it because my Dynamic Wizard has an RS232 programming cable and Centronics dongle. I don't know if there were many (or any?) computers with these ports by the time XP came along. If considering PCMCIA or Cardbus, I think that RS232 boards are available for both.

The CHEAP Dell Optiplex GX260 (Ebay ).. the computer I currently use ...circa 2000 -2002 ... has Serial (9-pin) ,Parallel (25-hole )and USB.

Not necessarily, the download does contain the correct driver. I got bored, couldn't sleep so had a little browse. Manufacturer of the USB to serial bridge chip seems to be Winchipbond. It's CH341. Drivers from their site ... http://www.winchiphead.com/download/ ... but it is all in Chinese

I'd just install from the one you got from your seller as getting the driver from that site I linked to risks downloading the wrong one ... unless you've managed to learn Chinese in the last few hours.

Seller sent only USB to serial driver and debugging program. He didn't give CAN driver. So debugging program include CAN driver and can be used only with this device (and vice versa). So this device can not be used in other applications. We don't know API of this device and don't have CAN dll (not USB to serial).
When i asked seller about soft he will give - he say "some soft"
When i asked about CAN dll and info - i didn't get answer at all.

Maybe somewhere there is this dll, but where to look it.

Seajays. You can for now connect this device to powerchair and see CAN traffic in the system (with debugging program). Speed 250kbps.
I don't see how else to help you. Sorry.

I have input functions and parameters for my device. I got dll file and manual from seller. I wrote "translator" from LevelX to QM_USB.

If i don't know input functions how to write

I got it in chinese and translated in Google. A little difficult to read.
Some mistakes in the functions were corrected.

Install the downloaded USB Chip driver from the link they gave you ...win 7 64 or 32

Once you've done that .. and the COM port for the CANUSB is recognised ..you can connect up CAN-H and CAN-L.

The monitoring software should allow you to see any data flow ...and Gologen say's that's about as far as you'll get.

You might as well try and see.

Connect CAN-H and CAN-L. Don't use very long wires (i have ~ 1 meter). Better twist their. Leave jumper 120 Om on place. Don't connect ground.

... but means you may not be able to "send" to the wheelchair module.

Go to where you extracted the files & open the folder called "USB to CAN software and driver v3.00", then open the folder called "CAN programme", double click the executable called "USBtoCAN（v2.00-English）.exe".

It will open an interface. You can set the Baud rate, com port etc. You may even be able to click on "can set".
