Device manager > serial port > set to com 1 to 8... Mine works on 8. Set inside the programmer software too.

Hi.

The serial device installed first time. Started at com19. Reset to com1

Started the software, plugged in device, plugged into chair, turned chair on....

And... 'Comms Active'. Woohoo!

Downloaded default off chair and saved for safety.

Now to start working through the changes

Hi Burgerman & WoodGB,

F55 programmed with Burgermans 'Current' program, with a few alterations to match AMPs on controller and 2 Pole Motors.

The chair is like new. My partner now has sensible control indoors and through door etc. And chasing after the kids in the garden is no problem as you can stop quick if you need.

Thanks for all the help in this and all of your efforts in many hours of testing and checking.

Cheers. Chris

Amazing to me why all chairs, from every manufacturer haver these steering delays heavily programmed in. Call them whatever you want, ramp rate, accelerations, decelerations etc. But after 15 years of reptrogramming other peoples chairs, I have yet to see a single one that didnt prefer it with them all removed.

Always test this:

Turn ACCELERATION has to be 100... /full or fast ramp rate whatever your control system uses for off/direct control woth no perceivable delay.
Turn DECELERATION has to be 100...
SLOW turn ACCELERATION (usually needs OEM programmer) needs to be 100 important!
SLOW turn DECELERATION (Needs OEM as above) 100 more important still!

Turn rate: Your choice, I use 45. If its too "sharp" for you reduce this to a usable level. Its just the speed the chair turns left right, or how sensitive the joystick is.

Does that mean:

You got the guy back, and he used those settings, and now it steers properly?

nops... i tried to say that the refurbishing done recently by you to the main site has been an happy and very exitous one:
greetins. Its like reading all of it first time!
On the programming side im still in the dark : nothing seems to work with my W7-32 bits and already resigned to learn to drive deiayed, you get used finally, as millions of other powerchairs users...Difficult to beat the Safety System from a partigiani free lance sharp shooter corner ... oh bella ciao, ciao, ciao

Hi.

Malamar, in regards to programming. I am using windows 7 32bit on a HP laptop.

The software crashes one on 10 times of loading and running compatibility wizard makes no difference to it.

I am using the kenwood lead with a good xlr connector matching woody wiring image.

If the crashing gets too bad I uninstall/reinstall the software.

The drivers for the USB are direct from windows update, not the ones you download in the forum.

I did find however that it doesn't work in the USB port on the left side of the laptop (dual ports) but works fine on the right (single port)

Cheers. Chris

On 64 bit, with ONLY the driver on the disk, it is extremely solid. On my server/workstation and laptop.

In device manager, delete the device, and tick the box where it says "delete driver?" Then click OK.

Then unplug the USB connector, plug back in, and DONT LET IT install from the web. (turn off auto device driver updating, disconnect from the web) If it installs any drivers at all, then delete the device, and driver, again. Rinse and repeat until it cannot find a driver...

Reboot, install the one on the disk only.

CHECK it ONLY has the correct driver installed. Change to a port 1 to 8.

Now try.

A physicist friend loaned me an external drive loaded with a bunch of movies and it has two USB male plugs. He said it may need to have both of them connected to make the drive run. I wonder if it's something to do with something like that? Just a thought.

because the 2nd one may be needed to give enough power to spin up a disk. USB alone may not have enough. And they vary. But all should have plenty for the lead.

Last version of Photoshop I purchased for a small fortune, the CS5, just ran only 32 bits (don`t know today) so I'm unwilling to switch to 64 Bit and risk to invalidate my favorite sofware or have to buy a new one to very little use, today...
Seems that Woody hard worked perfectly on W-XP ,but it is no longer a Microsoft supported OS and generally hard to get and beware of XP3...So the same old story of makers wanting to sell new products every year and forcing us to do so and buy, even if the extant is still a perfectly valid one. This programming thing is not wanted at large ultimately, and just available to somebody who lives somewhere and tells more funny jokes, apparently...so good for Sunrise etc.

Malamar ...I haven't forgotten your predicament.

I will ... assuming that I get some expected funds tommorrow .. be upgrading to Win 7.... I can then test programming leads ( not just the Pilot ) with the common Windows 7 O.S.

I'm also considering ordering the genuine lead online as the PGDT ordering system accepts my REAL address and postcode ..but not the Country ... ie UK. ... our GPO postal system should sort out the wrongly addressed package fairly easily if I use the I.O.M or Jersey as my country.

John,
Cheers for the offer ...I may take you up on it ... it all depends on the deal ( with / without O.S. etc ) that I can get when purchasing a new puter.

Woody, you know that you are my man into the knows for anything puter, electric, electronic wise; i can only "plug % play" I'm also considering retiring my battered portable puter for one offered as most with W-7 64 BITS AS MOST COME WITH NOW.
Will hear from you when news arise.

Likewise I now have a user freindly copy of 32/64bit Photoshop CS6. (But you need to be a bit computer savvy to install it).
Most software is like this...

Isohunt, pirate bay, Minova, many others, newsgroups, etc are your freind... Everything is available.

WE MUST LIVE IN DIFFERENT TIMESPANS, jOHN....
What is a solid reality for you, it's a Christmas tale for me: should i only try to install a cracked photoshop copy, 'puter will "tell" Adobe and a strange general collapse of my system will follllow: don`t ask me how i know. I know too there are ways around it, but for people in the know, who I`m surely not, or any longer.... As an example i talked with local quickie rep for an extimate of the "tuning" you suggested for my chair and he politely insinuated i should have my head checked and why i ever would do that, practically the same batteries i have now, same motors, inferior but by just so little controller...all my madness, sadly, and force my community to install me a chair lift, poor deluded !...
must join guerrilla again!
cheers

Its THEM that need their heads checked.

I go up a REAL 14+ degree slope, with difficult transition, really easily, using about 1/3rd of a stick of control in a chair modified in exactly the way I describe. Might not sound a lot but I am very heavy...

Yet a stock F55 chair, with 80 amp controller, stock programming, stick cables, 73Ah MK gel batteries, will not even get onto the ramp. It jams up as the casters leave the deck, or as they twist sideways onto the ramp, and the chair is stuck. You can get it to go up ONCE ON the ramp, but its slow, and needs full power. And forget about steering! Go straight or stop.

The NORMALS in society dont ever really grasp anything. The same mods make JoeC's wifes powerchair perform much better at sport.

No sure if I overlooked it, is there extra software required in order to reprogram a chair controller using these cables & drivers?

You need the higher level P&G PC Programming software.

Also note that the USB lead is only tested and working with the PILOT + controller.
