And if the MCU in the joystick requires both outputs to match, the error code if you hook up just one voltage divider might well be "out of calibration". Ciao, Lenny

Ummm ..don't know as the statement makes little sense.

From the joystick pdf

pins 2&7 left/right and pins 4&5 fore/aft should output the "same" voltage...
Therefore
When you replace the joystick with some other interface device you must then emulate ALL the original joystick voltages.

Yes, but at startup all pins have the same voltage, I just want to do that at first step ,

AxisX1, AxisX2, AxisY1, AxisY2 and center have the same voltage otherwise flashing leds occur.

I was having a bad connection in my breadboard. My bad.

2.4V is the winner! :)

I have 2 weeks before my DACs arrive. I will use potenciometers or R-2R DAC meanwhile.

thx for your help.

I've been through this thread and I'm still confused what the consensus is on what the correct pins and voltages are. I have a PGDT Pilot+ controller. What is the right way to do this?

Also, how do you get the PGDT programming software?

Thanks.

I haven't managed to find a lead ( make / model ) that will ALWAYS do the job.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2111&start=220#p39061

I actually bought a VSI and have had success using the diode technique on SOME of my KPG type leads ...but NOT the FTDI which only works on the PILOT+.

I think I might be able to make that work, I got a different USB to TTL converter - not based on FTDI, but I have Pilot+ anyway. What I need to figure out though is how to get the Pilot+ programming software. Would anyone be able to give me that? Or if not, where could I buy it? Thanks.

I bought the radioarena cable but i'm having even less sucess with this one than my previous cable; I think it's faulty.

In windows, on two separate machines, in win2k and XP the driver will not start correctly (error 10). I've tried different driver versions, etc but to no avail.

I have four or five other USB cables with use the PL2303 driver and on each one of these, they show up and work with no problem.

I'm going to have to contact radioarena and see if I can sort this out. The only trouble is, i've already chopped the modular plug on the end and soldered on an XLR :-(

I'm confused as to why you ignored this pic ...or did you not see it?

And how you came up with your own colour connection version.
The one I had worked out to white common, black and red TX and RX.

Woody, in some of the cables pictured above - red is white and white is red!

There appears to be NO SET colour for the wires ...the wire colours seem to vary depending on the whim of the Chinese supplier of the cable.

Popping the case is the only way to be absolutely sure.

Here's an updated pic ...AND ... I have yet to find any radio programming cable ( KPG Baofeng etc ) that will not work with the addition of the diode.

BLACK has ..so far ..in ALL the various USB Programming cables ...that I've opened the case on ...been GND.

If there is just 3 wires and one is Black then we can be fairly confident that it is GND and it should be just a case of trying the diode in each of the other colours to get a working lead / COMS ACTIVE.

If you don't want to pop the USB casing and have a continuity tester you can check which wire is GND by probing between the metal of the USB casing and the various coloured wires.

Hi all.....

I am a bit confused....... I have seen this wiring diagram for the Radio Arena UC01KM cable with the green and white wires connected to pin-3 of the neutrik plug. I have also seen a wiring diagram somewhere in these forums where there is a diode wired into the circuit, connecting the Tx and Rx lines I believe.

I am trying to program a VR2 controller with a laptop running XP...... which diagram should I use please?

Thank you! Nick

Ooops....... sorry...... I didn't realize I wasn't at the end of this thread when I wrote the last post. I see here the diagram with the diode inserted....... is that what I should use with my Radio Arena cable for programming the VR2 controller?

Also, in regard to a previous post about a Radio Arena cable not working and posting an Error-10 msg, I saw a message on a Prolific website warning that there were counterfit PL2303 chips coming out of China marked exactly the same as the genuine chips from Prolific..... you can't tell them apart. The counterfit ones fail with an Error-10 msg according to Prolific. They only recommend a couple of cable manufacturers to be sure of getting genuine chips. Wonder if that could be the problem with the cable you got recently...........

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me.
USB is fine. Will this cable be able to program pilot plus module? What software would I need?

Thanks

Take a lead like this .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Programmi ... 565bb777a0 .

Buy an XLR/Neutrik plug and a 1N4148 Diode

Cut the 2 pin plug off the lead ... and wire according to the diagram.
