Rollx Type S Conversion

Postby Dodgevanguy » 01 Nov 2013, 01:55

This is my handicap accessible 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with a 3.8L V6 motor. It's a Rollx conversion with the optional Type-S appearance package which includes the racing stripes, custom hood scoops and a chrome exhaust tip. I bought the van in November of 2011 and have done several modifications to it myself. The stereo system was taken out and replaced with a Sony deck, 2 Sony 6x9's in the back and 2 12" Kicker subwoofers. I had a muffler shop install an X-Force Varex muffler so I can adjust how loud and how much performance I want out of it. I also recently installed a cold air intake system, painted the rims and added a big floor mat where I sit so the carpet won't get dirty. The van has gained easily 30+ horsepower from those minor performance mods and can go from 0 to 100 MPH in about 26 seconds. When it was stock, it'd take around 39 seconds. Very fun reliable van and I'd recommend Rollx to anybody.[/img]

Theres a guy in Germany that sells startech Chrysler parts. These wheels are 19 x 8.5J split rims, with 245 45 19 runflat Pirelli tyres.

It looks cool, but it drives better and isn't harsh. They are a fraction bigger overall diameter than yours but not enough to matter. They sell for about 110 US dollars (my approx. conversion!) because the guy seems to be a bit mad.

I only see a filter in place of the air box?
I can tell you after spending most of my previous life as an engine tuner, dynamometer design and engine test guy, and car and bike drag racer, and nitrous injection system manufacturer, that the stock air box will give better power on a typical day. That filter will suck un warm air from under the engine bay after it comes from the radiator. So better to fit a better filter to the stock air box. It will also aid midrange power slightly. But while the exhauset may add a little power that air intake I see likely doesn't.

I wish the pictures would have centered better but I can't figure out how to edit my posting. Thanks for the pictures, they look awesome! I'll definitely look into getting a set because I never really was happy with the stock ones. Will I need to get the speedometer re-calibrated because of the larger diameter of those wheels? Or do they barely make a difference? Last thing I need is a speeding ticket haha

The air intake is just an aluminum pipe connected to the throttle body with a rubber coupler. There's a tube below where the air box used to be and that does blow cold air directly at the filter. You know how most kits come with that box that blocks the engine heat from getting to the filter? I'm still going to have to make one for it since they don't sell them. After getting that set, it'll be a tight suction and suck the air in from where it's supposed to. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

Well my speedometer now reads a little slower than my sat nav claims, but not enough to worry.
