HexHog all-terrain wheelchair

Postby JohnVee » 11 Aug 2014, 20:50

First impressions:

36 V, so not a wheelchair controller.

lithium battery could be bigger for longer range.

"Bespoke adjustments" for users with different abilities. No user adjustable settings, it looks like.

Since I cannot transfer on my own this is not something I will be spending my lottery winnings on.

Site is down, but I saw this before it was.

Several things come to mind.
1. Its not a wheelchair... Every time someone build a massive electric tank/skid steer/off road thing, they call it a wheelchair. Its not. A wheelchair is compact and small so can be used indoors and out. What it is is an electrically propelled huge off road vehicle. And there are many such things. Non of them practical.

2. BATTERIES, even lithium, will never work, well with skid steer, or off road. They are frankly rubbish...

3. Since it only works outdoors, why use electric/batteries? There are thousands of off roaders that are lighter and better with petrol engines. And in the case of this one a full size 4x4 may be smaller.

Couldnt agree more. I rolled my eyes. Thats not a wheelchair its an off road electric vehicle. The best off road chair just might be Burgermans.

I actually think off road an X5 or V6 would be better and more stable. So fit one with a 45v lithium / Roboteq setup and it wins. But they are again too big in my van and the pub for my liking and I tried it.
