tricking brakes with resistor

Postby wheeliechair » 22 Oct 2015, 19:12

I have a set of motors that do not have brakes so I keep getting a brake error. What kind of resistor would I need to trick the power module? Its an 80amp pilot plus. Do I need 2 one for each set of brake spades? How do you hold resistor in place?

The brake coils are about 60ohms but a resistor that small will dissipate 18w and get hot. There is some evidence that a much large resistor will fool the controller. Try a 1k 1w resistor, you'll need 1 for each motor. If that works simply wire into the loom, or to the controller and put some heatshrink tubing over it.
