You still need to understand it, the cells, the wiring, the charging etc to maintain and stay problem free.
But once you go lithium done PROPERLY theres no going back to lead. That permenant worry about "will I have enough battery to get back", that actually prevents you using much of the crappy range lead gives anyway, is gone. Theres always enough.
So you quite naturally tend to venture further, for longer and go out later in an evening into town worry free. Even if you forgot to charge the night before. If you are the type that gets out and about its massively life changing.
And again done properly, with a 40A PL8 charger you can shove a massive 35 miles back into it, in just 2 hours!
It takes 10 to 16 hours to do that with lead, even then you will only get 15 miles to dead.
And remember that after 6 months the lead will give much less. After a year in heavy use its due for replacement. Instead of 10+
Yes, you have to look after the cells as BM says, otherwise they'll die much faster.
