compile insurance company list

Postby Burgerman » 21 Jan 2012, 11:20

I want to compile a list of DISABILITY related modified vehicle specialists. Ones that actually understand things like lowered floors, imported vehicles, hand controls etc. For my Dodge Grand Caravan SXT, lowered floor, left hand drive, imported van, I have used:

1, Adrian flux (Actually red star specialist cover)
2, Fortess insurance via an agent. But they got too expensive.
3, Fish insurance (current, around £460 up from previous year £420, with protected no claims, legal, and 3 points for speeding)

Currently talking to another insurance (a division of prestige) about a new specialised cover for adapted vehicles. And will have a special link to get better prices on here! :) If they are actually as cheap as they claim. They are currently about to call back with a price for my van above. They actually know what it is and understand it which is a start! I will edit this post with their price ASAP. Added.£600 so not as good as fish insurance for me.

http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/insurance.htm

Just updated this page.

I want to add as many insurers that can insure modified vehicles (no not boy racers) as possible. So every year we all have a few to ring up and check out prices.

Anyone that knows of any specialist brokers, or insurers, post them here!

Any interest in USA providers? If so, it seems that *IF* one can get in to it (requires some sort of US Military connection) USAA https://www.usaa.com/ seems to be very good - EXCELLENT rates, and I've heard a lot of very good comments on them from everyone I know who can get it.. (both AB and not...)

The other company that seemed most responsive when I was shopping, was Amica Insurance. Again they seem to have a relatively good reputation for decent rates and good service...
