INSURANCE FOR U.S. ENTERVAN

Postby jimjam » 29 Apr 2013, 21:46

Hi,
I have an imported Dodge Grand Caravan converted as an ENTERVAN. Any ideas where I can get affordable insurance without having to pretend it is a Chrysler Grand Voyager (as I am doing at present)?

I went to a comparison site online, tried to insure a stock one, and then called them with a price to beat. My renewal was 540 initially... They try it on.

Thanks for your replies. Fish were quoting £800 and wouldn't bargain. Also I was cheesed off with their charging £40 for an additional driver for one day (incidentally my mother's funeral). I saved £200 by going to Adrian Flux.

To get quoted 800 where I paid 420 (with a somewhat dodgy driving record - used to have extra pages, and 13 sets of speeding endorsements, 5 disqualifications, and a few written off cars and bikes. And compared to 326 by another poster. All on the same left hand drive Chrysler with lowered floor, ramp etc is either a mistake, or you are doing something wrong.

I tell them, by phone, limited mileage (any figure that makes it less), driveway parked, Factory alarm, protected no claims (full 9 years+), 1 current speeding offence (bastards! :x ) and agreed value 45k, and windscreen, legal, etc 12 months, paid in 1 go. And specify pleasure use only, as well as any excess level that may make it cheaper. And Specified 19 inch Startech split rim alloy wheels - reason easier to clean! (they asked), 245/45-19 run-flat tyres, and blemish free - hence value!

They wanted 500 plus renewal. One quick online estimate at a comparison site, and I read off the top three to them, and they match the lowest straight away... Saving 120 at least. I read them my card details.

Why/how are you getting quoted DOUBLE what I am for the same car???

Do you live in a war zone? Oh, don't answer that. :o
