Not if it has the standard LED controller, then OBP is a no go. Which joystick type does carls chair come with?

I presumed the colour screen fancy one since its only about £35 more from pgdt. Doesent seem like much saving with the basic one. Even if he pays the extra its still super cheap compared to buying a programmer used or otherwise.

Yes this has OBP if it is enabled. Make sure you get it enabled!!! It may already be enabled but passworded.

7.1 On-Board Programming (OBP)
This is performed using the Omni’s own display and front panel buttons. For
details of these buttons, refer to section Controls and Connections. From the
Omni, all system OBP parameters can be adjusted: for example, Speeds and
Accelerations.
OBP can be entered in one of two ways, depending on the factory
programming of the control system.
7.1.1 To enter OBP using a keypad sequence:
• Hold down the Profile button and then hold down the On/Off button until
there is a short beep. Note, the normal power-up sound will occur prior to
this beep.
• Release the Profile button, but continue to hold down the On/Off Button
until there are two further short beeps.
• Release the On/Off button, there will be a longer beep and OBP Mode
will be entered.
After the sequence has been performed and while the system remains
switched on, the Mode button can be used to sequence through all system
Modes and to return to OBP Mode. If the system is powered-down or there is no
OBP activity for 5 minutes, then the keypad sequence will need to be
performed again.

The other way requires a dongle IF OBP is not already enabled. "Phil" is WRONG...

That one would be dealer only, as wheelchair repair techs/servicers only sell dealer versions.

Thanks Carlo, but it’s not as simple as sending something up to you. We customise the remote sockets, so it will need to be fitted to the chair here I’m afraid.

As for the knocking noise, I have received the following from our engineering department:

The gearbox in our chair has helical gears, which mean that the shaft moves axially when the torque is reversed which causes a knocking sound. This is not a problem mechanically. There is nothing that can be done about this.

We can certainly check the chair over and see if there is anything wrong, but we can’t give unrealistic expectations. The reason helical gears are used is for strength, changing to spur gears to reduce/eliminate the knock would compromise the strength of the gearbox.

The sound comes from the worm drive? Then they need to add shims or higher spec lower clearance bearings (C1 class) to stop it moving back and forwards. Thats just bad engineering or assembly standards. And as the bearings wear it will get worse.

As for charge connector there's no reason you cant add an extra one elsewhere, it is really simple.

What they really did was write a letter to stop you bothering them.

John if its the groove gearboxes the small bearing on the worm drive gear
motor end. The bearings are cheap metal shield both end type.like a kids cheap scooter.
First to fail.Replaced with rubber sealed stainless ones and remove one seal
inside to get lubricated when running.
Quickie groove Brushless

I do. It has no worm. Unless it uses different motor/gearbox to the X5/V6 chair which I doubt.

Loose motor, loose wheel or loose hub, broken motor shaft, or something. Needs a man with a spanner to investigate and find out.
