It doesent much matter now. We can all use the lead that I now have, as woody originally sent me, and it just works. The kenwood one...

It just involves buying the lead, cutting off one end...
Then fitting an XLR plug, (Neutrik) like your charger. From ebay for about 2 uk pounds or 3 dollars...

It simply needs 2 connections. There are 3 pins. Only two are used. Any fool with a soldering iron or his freind can do this. If you cant personally do it for whatever reason, just take it to any hobbyist, repair shop, schoolboy etc. Its a very simple thing. Or likely woody will make you one now we are sure it working as promised.

OK now retested the two leads that have just 2 wires for woody. They still didnt work.

Only the kenwood one (the same as the original woody cable) works. So it seems anyone struggling needs to use one of these with the driver on the disk it comes with. Works flawlessly.

BUT It not let me program anything on the chair... The program button still inactive.
I really want to know what I did wrong and wanna know how can I make it work.
I´ve started to play powersoccer in Brasil and it really be great if we learn how to program our chairs.

Did you install the driver it came with?

Does it show up in device manager as a serial port when plugged into the PC?

You need to change it to a COM port between 1 and 8 and choose the same one in the PG software.

Which controller? ...the lead may only work with the PILOT PLUS...

1 to 8 can work. But try another 1 to 8 and also in the program.

If its wired correctly, and the correct cable, it has got to work, since mine does.

I'm making the cable to suit the curtis Q-Logic joystick. Does anyone know if you can buy an XLR plug with the pin configuration to suit the Q-Logic controller, if not where do i get the 2 pins that plug into the joystick and what size do you need.

You have to make up the plug yourself. I bought 4 XLR plugs on Ebay for $6 and used spring pins mounted in it. It was a bit of a challenge to mount the pins. You really don't need the XLR plug all you need is to pins that are conductive. Gologen showed a picture of his in this thread.

Name of this file is LXN4py2s.dll. You should unzip and copy this file to program's folder (C:\Program Files\1314-4401 PC PROGRAMMING STATION\) and change original LXN4py2s.dll (NetPorty driver).
Next. You should copy file QM_USB.dll (USB-CAN driver) to same folder. You get this file from seller when you purchase USB-CAN device.

Hey gologen, I just received the same USB to CAN bus converter you have, downloaded and replaced the existing .dll file with yours and attempted to connect to my Quantum 614 without success. I double checked all the posts and found that I wasn't sent the QM_USB.dll file along with the converter. Performing a quick (15 minute) Google search revealed nothing. Is there a link that can be sent to obtain this file?

Complete and total success! Thank you gologen! It worked perfectly with gologen's procedure once I obtained the proper driver from the seller. I just emailed them and they sent me a link!

I merely ran through a quick reprogram but within minutes I now have 3 speed modes for various circumstances: Mode 1 for "Free and Clear" (all out pedal to the metal!), Mode 2 for "Fairly clear with the chance of someone crossing my path" (quick but not too quick to stop short), and Mode 3 for "Indoor purposes" (nuff said).

A Wiki might be a good idea for not just this procedure but most of the other chairs discussed here. I'd be more than happy to divulge all the info on the one that I have!

Hi Im a newbie,

So I am trying to locate some basic information without having to sift through 500 posts. Can someone point me to the links where I can buy the usb to 2 pin serial adapter? I'd like to try this project but there doesn't seem to be an easy to find "parts list" with links listed here. I have a pl2303 usb to 9 pin serial adapter. It plugs into a usb port and provides a 9 pin male port.

I want to load the download and load the current winxp software, drivers, etc. If I have a 9 pin usb port, what 2 pins of the serial port connect to the q-Logic controllers XLR port on the chairs controller?

sums up the steps you need to take. You can't just plug it to a standard RS232 port. The Q Logics use CANBUS protocol. You need a converter similar to what gologen uses. He's modified the driver to accept a specific USB to CANBUS adapter. I recommend going to eBay and entering: USB to CANBUS adapter in the search bar. I just found one that appears to be model number FB054A that appears to be the same one gologen uses (as do I) but I shouldn't be quoted as expert advice. Hopefully, someone with far more knowledge in this subject than I will post better and possibly more accurate info!

Hello, I would like to start out by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has worked so hard to come up with a working programming cable for these power chairs!! I how purchased the Kenwood cable and an XLR connector to make my own cable just like was detailed on this thread. However, I'm having trouble finding a copy of the actual programming software that works with Windows 7. Does anyone have a copy they would be willing to share or a link to where I could download it?

I did check. Kenwood cable. Connected to the computer. Connected to the controller. Then launched a program to check the data signal COM port. The program has shown that data transmission errors is NO! Run the program Mobility gives an error that shows no COM port - no connection! Help what to do?

What a mess.

I have sent you various pictures of how to wire the controller.... as far as I can see from the pic the wiring is WRONG.

BUT ...Having the wiring correct doesn't always mean that the cable will actually work ... some leads work ...some don't.

There are two versions of the cable. On-chip and chip PL2303 and FT232RL
Cable PL2303 chip - there need to put only a diode. The resistor is not required. On the cable where the FT232RL chip - you need to put solder a diode and a resistor. I probyval all options. No connection. Tomorrow make an exact copy of your cable as in the photo. Check .Because report results.
