Skinny 3 inch rim, 4.00 x 8 tyre.

Image

Fat 6 inch rim, with the same 4.00. This is how much difference the rim width makes...

I haven't seen anyone mention this and if I missed it sorry.

Offroad and scooter, and ATV black tires are different then mobility tires.

I have a Frontier x5 with replacement off road tires and the urethane smell was so strong we had to park in in the bathroom when on a trip to New York.

It was almost toxic.

Even my garage smelled for months almost a year before the smell lessened.

Also the black on some tires really marks up carpet and walkways.

Kendra mobility tires I dont have same issues.

These puncture proof (kevlar woven into the tyre casing) tyres are made by kenda.
And in the 6.00 x 6 size will fit your X5 rims directly. They are very hard wearing.

Burgerman Check your messages I got a flat last night...

Espresso I was thinking about you as we talked about flats off line.

I was at the dinner table and turned and felt the tire bind. I looked down and it was dead flat.

We have a small compressor and my Wife filled it and it held long enough to get to my friends and Exhale Bike.

They didnt have 13"x3 or 3"x8" tubes so my good friend Matt used liquid latex (its not slime) in the tube its what they use on tubless tires.

Left the nail in and said roll! So I ran around the shopping mall and back and its working great. It took 5 min tops.

He said the bicycle offroad and street racer market have all gone tubeless and cant understand why mobility industry still uses solid tires that takes the street shock and transfers the energy to the user or worse still uses tubes and risk getting flats for customers that need the softest ride possible.

He said for someone like you or I that roll a lot you could put a small kit together and put it in a back pack.

If you get a flat just remove the steam pour in the latex put the stem back in a use a portable canister to get air in and roll!

nice - glad it worked out for you - all this is making me nervous now and maybe i made a bad choice - i didnt even mount them yet - what can i do - i am not going to invest more in that chair - but i started it and if anything - i will get the inner liners to add - then the tube and slime and thats it - after that - nothing more i can do with that setup -

other chair - i can do the tubeless rims when shirley is ready for me to pick out a set etc, - no rush - once hes done with helping the others - i have a while to go before i get it complete with adapter i am sure - the plus side - i cant complain much with the 646se and foam tires - the ride is actually soft to me - could be suspension and foam could be softer who knows - i got the itch to go to black tires and thats how it all started -

so if i can end up with a nice tubeless rim - black tire and then add the slime or what ever - would feel better - so now your going to leave it that way with the stuff inside ?

i also read - not sure where - that some sealants could eat the rim ? over time - slime heavy duty kind - now thats another thing to think about -

In 19 years of use and abuse, I have only ever had 1 single drive tyre puncture and even that got me home and needed no repair.

Why? Because I use proper road tyres, not mobility tyres. They are much better tougher construction. And partly self supporting. And because they are tubeless. Tubes are THE problem... That tyre sealer (theres lots of different ones) works 100% on a tubeless tyre.

I use these ones on the latest rebuild because they are made tough! And tubeless. So the sealer WORKS 100%
download/file.php?id=4326&mode=view

And the same with these - Duro, tubeless quality strong tough construction and sealer works 100%:
http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/images- ... re-450.jpg

And these because they are tubeless, AND puncture proof K-Sheild reinforced, you struggle to even drill a hole! And these fit the X5 too:
http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/images- ... /hegar.jpg

And CASTER tyres do not matter!

BM - the tire you have on your Green Chair - that looks like a nice tire - not so high tall past the rim - would i be able to get a tire like that on the tubeless rims i get from shirley at some point ?

that tire looks like it can clear the fender and i wont have to remove it - by the way - when you got sick there - did you send it my way ? i feel sick the past 3 days and not much better today - havnt been this way in years - even my worker shes sick also - we both sick - fever - chilly - cold hot - etc,

so much for the flu shot

i was feeling not too great right after new years - slowly getting that feeling but not bad - i think one of my workers - she wasnt feeling well when she worked - her son gets sick alot - i think that didnt help me - then i went out for the chair appt.
i didnt think it was that bad - but out all day - cold - windy - didnt eat all day - and that night - i was dead - next day same worker who was sick - we had soup etc, - tea - was good but didnt do it - i went to my meds because my throat was very bad - chest pain - couldnt sleep - i started the meds have two more days left - it helped my throat - but body achy - cold - hot - stuffy nose - fever - i used up a case of bounty to blow my nose every 3 secounds - its ridiculous -

i hope this is it for me for this year - i worry since its too soon - can get it again before it all over - and lately i been getting iffy when weather goes to spring summer again - and back to fall winter - i used to be where i got sick once a year - now its going on twice a year - glad my doc. takes care of me with the meds - i try not to take them till i feel i need it - i held off for a week before i realized its not going away -

too bad i like those tires - thats what i am trying to figure out - on the 8 inch tubeless rim - the tires i see on them seems much higher than my stock tire - which means it wont fit under the fender - i may be wrong - just the pictures of them seem larger - i understand 3.50 - 8 tire fits the rim fine - but the size overall is what i am concerned - not much the width because its minor and the adapter or spacer 1/4 inch at most should clear that - but the height may be a problem

i rather not have to remove the fender - but when i get around to it - if i have to - i guess i will - may look nice with out it anyway - i wait till you guys get your rims tires - and when i get my spare rims here also - if i cant get an adapter made here and shirley wants to do it for me - thats another issue - i have to mail my rim to him then - if thats the case - he might as well hold on to the rims he gets for me - so i dont have to ship two rims to him -

i hate this oversee shipping - costs are so high - makes it not worth it - unless its only me -

True but the rims are super cheap so offsets the shipping costs. Look at 90/80 - 8 tyres. right overall diameter. Ideal rim 3 inch wide.

Steve , are these valve stems OK with you ? I'm going to have the tyre mounted on the rim for more compact shipping size .

I knew these are not BM's cup of tea . He has fanncy ones . ;)

i will try taking better pics tomorrow night - still not feeling too great today - now its snowing here - i called my mechanic - emailed - he wants me to call him when i ready to talk about the adapter etc, - i know he can find someone to do it -

he races funny cars - he build my engine on my 93 cobra mustang - but you know - dosnt always want to get involved - but shouldnt be too hard - once i get my spare rims - and the rims from shirley tires etc, - i can have my father drop off both rims to him - thats all he would need right ? original rim and the new rim -

or have to find my own place if i can online and ship it to them - last but not least - i guess i have to ship to shirley - now these tubeless rims - they would have the seal lock on the rim - extra bump you talk about to keep the tire sealed ?

if the height of the tire dosnt change - then yes theres room for the fender also - i dont mind if its wider by 1/4 inch etc, - as long as it goes outward away from the chair frame -

a 10 inch rim gives alot more options in tires and rims but that size would give me issues for sure - at first i figure i do 10 inch and gain speed or why do it - but i changed my mind now - i want it as simple as i can do it - if its a bit wider its ok -
taller its ok also but its easier of i can keep it under the fender -

taller would interfere i believe with the lock down thats welded there - i use that for my charge cable - thats close - the way i look at it - with the adapter and rim - it should bring the tire out a bit anyway

90 /80 is the same size - what if i get 100/60 size or 100/70 - would be a bit wider but same height ? lower profile ?

100 is 4 inches. Needs a 3.5 wide rim. And there's no 100/60 series tyre... I don't think. And that would be 60mm sidewall, lower than you have now... So you would need 100/75 which doesn't exist so 100/80 is the closest. or 90/80 is the closest.

90/80 keeps it the same size all around - ? is it a bit wider also ? compared to a 3.50 - 8 tire -

whats the difference between the two ?

Yes. Slightly wider by about 10mm. But they appear to be mobility only, not tubeless and probably not strong like the road tyres.

the 90 /80 tire is not as strong as a road tire -

what about 3.50 -8 - stronger or same material ? the difference in height between the 3.50 -8 and 90/80 is the same ? height and width ?

https://world.taobao.com/item/447501412 ... pp=firefox

this is what shirley found for me - looks very nice - i like it - its a 3.50 - 8 - i cant tell from the picture how much taller this tire will be over my stock tire -
